Dear Nutcracker Participants,
We are so excited to begin working on our 2nd Annual production of The Nutcracker! A huge thank you to everyone who auditioned—your enthusiasm and talent mean the world to us. Attached is the rehearsal schedule. Please keep in mind, we only rehearse for this show on Saturday mornings not during normal class time, therefore it is crucial cast members attend every rehearsal they are called for.
All students must be enrolled in classes for the 26-27 MPAS season in order to participate in The Nutcracker. There is an $80 fee that covers participation and one costume, plus $20 for each additional costume the performer may be in.
Rehearsals: Please note that not every role will be called for every rehearsal.
Performances: December 11 & 12th at University of Rio Grande
Casting Placement
Directors will not discuss casting decisions with students or parents. If a student or parent has concerns about casting, directors will discuss how that student can improve, rather than a rationale for casting decision.
Understudies are required to be at every rehearsal for pieces they are understudying and ready to step in at a moment’s notice.
Attendance is taken into serious consideration when determining class placement and casting. Consistent attendance will help increase a dancer’s technique, so technique and attendance are often correlated; both are taken into consideration when determining casting placement.
If a student has poor attendance, it is possible they may be removed from their role and an understudy will replace them. This decision is up to the directors and not up for discussion.
